Avon and Somerset Police divers have been searching the River Avon near Churchill Bridge to try and find the murder weapon used to kill 51-year-old Thomas Downey on Christmas Eve.
The team of divers are believed to be looking for the weapon used to kill homeless Downey.
Police have not issued any information regarding what weapon they believe could have caused the fatal head injuries he received.
A third man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder following the death of Thomas Downey under an archway near the Lower Bristol Road on Christmas Eve.
A post mortem showed that Mr Downey died from significant head injuries.
His family travelled down from Manchester to be briefed by investigating officers on the enquiry. They are being supported by a police family liaison officer.
A 33-year-old arrested over the weekend remains in police custody. A 37-year-old man, who was also arrested over the weekend, has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
The neighbourhood policing team are working with the local community to provide support and reassurance and to assist with the investigation.
However, officers are still keen to speak to anyone who was in the area near to the station in Lower Bristol Road around lunchtime on Christmas Eve.
Police believe the area would have been busy with shoppers and people leaving work early.
If anyone has any information, they would like them to contact the Major Crime Investigation Team on the force number 101.
