Avon and Somerset Police in Bath have discovered and dismantled a cannabis factory and seized around 300 plants with a street value of up to £180,000 at a house on the High Street in Twerton.
The property had been completely converted for cultivation. The street value of the drugs is put at up to £180,000.
Police were called by a neighbour early yesterday evening, who suspected that a burglary was taking place.
Two men were seen running away from the back of the house and jumping over the garden gate. They have not been found.
The house was secured overnight and yesterday morning a team from the police’s Operation Viscount drugs unit was on scene, dismantling all the drug cultivation equipment and taking away the cannabis plants.
Twerton beat manager PC Adge Secker said: “This is a significant discovery, thanks to local intelligence.
“Because of that we have taken out of circulation a very large amount of cannabis.”
