Avon and Somerset Police have launched an appeal for help to trace a man who attacked and attempted to rob a foreign teenage student in the Foxhill area of Bath.
The 15-year-old Italian boy, on a school exchange programme, had got off a bus by the Co-op on Bradford Road and walked down a lane towards Hawthorn Grove and the St Andrew’s Community Centre.
As he walked towards a garage area he was approached by a young man who punched him in the face and tried to steal his mobile phone, but failed and ran off along Bradford Road when a white car drove past.
The student suffered a bruised eye but was not seriously hurt. He has since returned to Italy.
The attacker was white, in his 20s, more than 6ft tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a blue hoody with the hood up and black trousers.
It happened at around 4.45pm on 17th March.
Anyone who saw the attempted robbery, or who has any information – officers would particularly like to speak to the driver of the white car – is asked to call 101 using reference 5216058214.
