A 25-year-old man has been remanded in custody until he is sentenced at Bristol Crown Court for an assault at Bath Bus Station.

Bath Bus Station

Ronan Harding, of Overdale at Clandown, near Radstock, appeared at Bath Magistrates’ Court on Monday 24th November after a warrant without bail had been issued for his arrest the previous Wednesday.

Harding had failed to attend court in relation to an assault causing actual bodily harm on Andrew Hall on 6th June.

At Harding’s appearance, he admitted the assault.

The court heard that Harding had attacked Mr Hall after a chance meeting. Mr Hall had reportedly been in a relationship with Harding’s mother, which “didn’t end well”.

Harding had “lost his temper” after seeing Mr Hall.

Images of the injuries Mr Hall sustained were shown to the court. He had been punched in the face three or four times and went to A&E with a swollen eye and facial fractures.

The court heard there were no long-term injuries.

The reason Harding had not attended court on 19th November as required was because he made a mistake over the date, magistrates were told.

Harding, who is already subject to a suspended prison sentence for another matter, was remanded in custody until 23rd December.

Magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.
