A Bath man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Wiltshire at the weekend in which a police officer was injured.

Police in the county are urgently appealing for help locating a vehicle which was involved in the incident, which they believe could be in the area west of Bath.

The white Dacia Jogger Expression – registration WU73 MXL – had been spotted in a field in Conscience Lane in Devizes by a police officer at approximately 11.30pm on Saturday, 1st June.

Wiltshire Police said: “The officer stopped his vehicle and exited in an attempt to speak to the occupants. At this point, the vehicle driver failed to engage with the officer and proceeded to leave the location, intentionally colliding with the officer.

“As a result, the officer sustained injuries and further to hospital treatment has been discharged and will now continue his recovery at home.

“Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries and have now arrested a man in his 30s from Twerton in Bath, on suspicion of attempted murder.

“We are keen to locate the Dacia we believe to have been involved and are urging members of the public with information to get in touch.”

If you can help in any way with finding the vehicle, or if you know anything about what happened, call 101 and quote log number 383 of 1st June.
