35-year-old man admits stealing rape seed oil drums from Newbridge pub

A man appeared before Bath magistrates on Monday 20th October to admit taking part in a burglary at The Boathouse at Newbridge.

The court heard that at 2.30am on 18th December 2024, two people with a van had been seen stealing drums of rape seed oil from a shed at the pub at Newbridge Road.

The goods were later recovered, and police made two arrests.

Before the court on Monday was 35-year-old Bristol man Adrian Grekowicz.

Magistrates were told that he has previous convictions and has spent time in prison. He has had issues with cocaine and alcohol but is changing his lifestyle.

Instead of a custodial sentence the court imposed a 12-month community order under which Grekowicz must complete 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £114 and £85 prosecution costs.

Grekowicz told the magistrates: “I want to apologise and thank you for giving me another chance today.”

A 34-year-old man Bristol man has already appeared before Bath magistrates, charged in connection with The Boathouse burglary.

On 8th October Adam Malik pleaded not guilty and elected trial at Bristol Crown Court. The case was adjourned until 12th November and Malik was granted unconditional bail.
