A 26-year-old man from Southdown in Bath who stalked and threatened to kill a woman after their two-month relationship ended has appeared in court.

Bath magistrates heard on Wednesday 7th January that Nathan Russell, of Cedar Grove, made threats to kill the woman between 10th and 11th November 2024 at The Oval in Southdown.

He had also bombarded her at the time with phone calls, text messages, and voice notes, which amounted to stalking, causing her to fear on at least two occasions that violence would be used against her.

The court heard that Russell had demanded money from her for the upset she had caused him, and she had sent him £120.

Russell admitted making threats to kill and stalking involving fear of violence.

The court heard from the prosecutor that the case had taken so long to get to court because of the wait for call log analysis.

Magistrates remanded Russell on conditional bail and ordered pre-sentence reports to be prepared with a focus on his mental health.

He will be sentenced at the court on 27th February.
