Bath man admits his pocket bully was dangerously out of control

A 52-year-old Bath man has pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control.

Paul Messam, of Grosvenor Place at Lambridge, appeared before District Judge Lynne Matthews at Bath Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 29th July to admit the charge relating to his pocket bully, Morpheus.

No one was injured in the incident in Saw Close on 4th May.

Messam also admitted he used threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour on that day, causing harassment, alarm or distress.

The case was adjourned until 30th September for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.

Messam was remanded on unconditional bail.

A report will also be prepared by a canine expert to see if Morpheus can be safely returned to Messam.

The dog has been in police kennels since the incident.
