Man admits three offences in Keynsham but faces trial for fourth

A man has appeared at Bath Magistrates’ Court on charges of having an offensive weapon in public, assaulting a police officer and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

On Wednesday 29th July, Alan Wilcox admitted three out of four charges, all relating to 6th February.

The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to being in possession of a baseball bat without lawful authority or reasonable excuse in Semele Close in Keynsham.

He also admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a woman in Keynsham, causing her harassment, alarm or distress.

Although Wilcox pleaded guilty to one charge of assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty in Keynsham, he indicated a not guilty plea to a similar charge in which it is said he pushed the constable down the stairs.

Wilcox, of School Road in Brislington, was remanded on conditional bail until his trial, which will take place at the court on 12th April next year.
