A 58-year-old man has admitted committing three offences at Bath Marina and Caravan Park at Brassmill Lane in Newbridge.

Mark Phillips appeared at Bath Magistrates’ Court on Monday 26th January to plead guilty to intentionally strangling Robin Vance on 13th May 2025.

He also admitted that on 15th May, he caused Robin Vance harassment, alarm or distress by using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour.

Phillips admitted a charge of assaulting PC Stephen Merryweather in the execution of his duty on 15th May, but a further charge of assault by beating the officer was withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Magistrates adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Phillips, who lives at Bath Marina and Caravan Park, was remanded on conditional bail until his sentencing, which will be back at the magistrates’ court on 18th March.
