Investigation underway after serious sexual assault in the centre of Bath

Avon & Somerset Police have launched an investigation following a serious sexual assault in the centre of Bath last night.

The incident happened at around 12.30am this morning, Wednesday 4th August.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault and currently remains in police custody.

A spokesperson for Avon & Somerset Police said: “The victim is being fully supported by trained professionals.

“A cordon was in place earlier to allow specialist crime scene investigators to examine the area but has since been removed.

“Enquiries, including a review of CCTV, are ongoing.”
