A large number of police officers have been dealing with an illegal New Year’s Eve rave in the former Stothert & Pitt factory buildings on the Lower Bristol Road in Bath.

The buildings, which are now derelict and owned by the Council, are the basis of a regeneration plan called the Craneworks.

Five police cars as well another five police vans were parked near the buildings this morning, while officers waited for the rave to finish before entering.

It is believed that hundreds of people were at the illegal event.

Police are expected to serve a notice regarding the rave and seize the sound equipment that was being used.

The community Craneworks project to bring the derelict Stothert & Pitt factory buildings back to life was unveiled back in June.

The buildings have stood derelict and decaying since the loss of the ‘Dyson School of Design Innovation’ scheme of 2007.

Craneworks will create a cutting edge centre for invention where thousands of local people from all backgrounds, including children and young people, can come together to be inspired and to learn to create, invent and make.
