A woman driving one of the cars involved in the incident sadly died as a result of her injuries.

The driver of a second car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have said the road remains closed while the scene is examined.

Officers are asking people whose journeys are necessary to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who saw the collision, and haven’t yet spoken with the police, to come forward, as well as anyone with dashcam footage which may be relevant to the investigation.

If you can help, call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5221045724.
