An appeal for witnesses has been launched following a fatal collision on Pennyquick in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 25th August.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.20am.

Officers say the purple Citroen car involved was being driven towards Newton St Loe when it left the road.

A man in his 40s, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed and a specially-trained family liaison officer will provide them with support.

Road closures were put in place to enable emergency services to investigate the collision, but these have now been lifted.

Motorists who were driving in the area and may have relevant dashcam footage, or witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers, are asked to contact the police.

If you can help, call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5224224148, or complete the online appeals form.
