The woman who died in a two vehicle collision involving a lorry on the A36 at Hinton Charterhouse on Monday afternoon has been named by police.
She is 73-year-old Margaret Jones from the Hartcliffe area of Bristol.
Her family have asked that they are allowed to grieve in peace at this difficult time.
An appeal for witnesses has now been launched by Avon and Somerset Police following the fatal incident.
The collision between a car and an articulated lorry happened on the A36 Frome Road at around 1.30pm.
Ms Jones sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene.
Roads were closed in the area following the incident to allow collision investigators to carry out a detailed inspection of the scene.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help their enquiries.
