The Council is organising a second hand furniture sale on Saturday 28th June, at the former MoD building (next to the Recycling Centre) at Pixash Lane in Keynsham.
It will take place between 10am and 12 noon, and there will be a variety of items on sale, all of which have been brought to the Council’s Recycling Centres by residents and are in good enough condition for re-use.
This is likely to include items such as sofas, coffee tables, cupboards, dining tables and chairs, chests of drawers.
Cllr David Dixon, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods (LibDem, Oldfield) said: “Instead of being recycled or sent to landfill, these items are first being offered to residents at bargain prices – this is a great way of avoiding waste and saving money too.”
Sales will be cash only and the income used to help fund running future sales and other recycling activities such as Give and Take days.
Give and take days offer residents the opportunity to get rid of reusable items they no longer need and take things they do need, for free.
They are also a good opportunity to talk to the Council’s recycling team for advice about recycling collections or cutting down on waste, ordering recycling containers and more.
The next Give and Take Day takes place at Saltford Hall, Wedmore Road, Saltford Bristol BS31 3BY on Saturday 26th July, 10am-1pm.
