Liberal Democrats in Westmoreland are welcoming news that the owners of the Bath Press Site are to engage with local residents about their plans for the site.
It was announced last month that Tesco were considering a mixed use development for the site with flats and office space.
This followed the rejection at appeal of the original proposals for a Tesco grocery store.
Now the property developers, Spenhill Regeneration, have announced a public exhibition to share the emerging plans for the site.
Councillor Sharon Ball (Liberal Democrat, Westmoreland ward) commented: “Many local residents were deeply concerned about the proposals for a Tesco store at the Bath Press site.
“The new proposals for housing and office space might be an improvement, but will need to fit into the local community.”
Westmoreland community campaigner, Sarah Moore, added: “The future of the Bath Press site has been up in the air for far too long.
“This is an important landmark building in the South of Bath and it is about time a proper scheme was suggested.
“We really want to encourage local residents to respond to the consultation and attend the public exhibition on 29th October. We would also like to hear from residents directly.
“Please let us know what you think about the scheme via our website – Westmoreland Community News.”
