The Zenith Youth Theatre Company have pledged a whopping £1000 towards the Theatre Bath Bus, a unique project hoping to provide theatre performances anywhere across the area.

Zenith Youth Theatre Company, which was established fifty two years ago, provides young people from all different backgrounds with the opportunity to develop skills and confidence through musical theatre.

They plan to use the bus to take a group of young people to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018 where it is hoped they will be joined with other local companies wishing to stage their work there.

Chris Jones, Chair of Zenith said: “We have a choice in life, we can sit around and wait for things to happen, or we can get out there and help make it happen.

“Like many other organisations, when it was needed, Zenith received tremendous support from the Bath community and this project provides us with the opportunity to reinvest that goodwill.  What inspired us about the project was that the bus has the potential to benefit everyone in and around Bath, not many projects can do that.”

Scott Rogers, Artistic Director of Zenith Youth Theatre said: “The prospect of using a resource like this to stage a project for Zenith is a very exciting and unique opportunity that not only would be of benefit to the company but also the local communities that the bus visits.

“This really does need to happen for Bath and hope that the whole artistic community gets behind it.”

Zenith join a whole host of local companies who have pledged their support for the project including; The Old Bag Theatre Company, Bath Light Operatic Group, The Heroine Project Presents, The Bathford Players, New Old Friends and Butterfly Psyche Theatre.

Theatre Bath’s Creative Director, Luke John Emmett commented: “I am overwhelmed with the support for this project from local companies and individuals both locally and nationally.

“There is a real buzz about this project and people have come up with some amazing ideas and inspiring uses for it. We have just under a week remaining to raise the final funds.

“We really need everyone to donate what they can and help us to reach the target to enable this amazing community project to take place.”

Imagine being able to take a performance anywhere – anywhere with 13 meters of parking space. Impossible? Not anymore, thanks to the Theatre Bath Bus.

The Theatre Bath Bus is a unique venture, there is nothing like it currently available in the South West.

The community have the chance to play a huge role in making it happen. There are various rewards available to those who donate to this exciting endeavour; these include personalised tweets, a note of thanks on Theatre Bath Bus website, or an invite to the exclusive launch party. Backers can even name a seat on the bus.

Zoe Bailey, Associate Director said: “We are all really excited about this project and how it can help to champion the arts in our local area.

“The Theatre Bath Bus is for the benefit of everyone in the arts community and beyond. It is designed to be versatile and for the community to use in whatever way they see fit.”

Theatre Bath are a grassroots organisation who aim to help support and champion all theatre and arts within the Bath area.

Formed in 2011 they are a community organisation which promotes local arts and also shares information about the national arts scene.

It is currently run by a team of four volunteers and has massive and far-reaching support from the Bath community as well as the national theatre and arts scene.

Donations to the project can be made on the Bath Theatre Bus Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lukejohnemmett/bath-theatre-bus
