Work to erect Bath and North East Somerset’s Christmas Lights is getting underway this week, with lights being put up across the city centre, surrounding towns and villages.

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s contractors will be installing the lights in Bath City Centre, Combe Down, Larkhall, Weston, Keynsham, Midsomer Norton and Radstock between Monday 14th and Friday 18th October.
Councillor Tim Ball, cabinet member for Housing, Planning and Economic Development, said: “The run up to Christmas is an important time for local traders and we need to ensure the lights are put up in good time so the work doesn’t impact other events, such as Bath’s Christmas Market.
“Our contractors need to schedule the work alongside other communities across the country, but will be keeping disruption to a minimum by working in the evenings.”
Blachere Illuminations UK Ltd, the world’s largest festive lighting company, will use hundreds of metres of cable and tens of thousands of power-saving LED lights on lamp columns and cross-street displays to illuminate the district.
This year, the festive illuminations in Bath have been extended to include displays on lamp-columns in Moorland Road.
