Windsor Bridge reopens to traffic following early morning police incident

Windsor Bridge in Bath was closed to traffic this morning, Wednesday 26th November, as emergency services attended a police incident.

The Echo understands there was concern for the welfare of a member of the public.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Windsor Bridge shortly after 7.30am.

Crews from Avon Fire & Rescue’s Bath station, including the rescue boat unit, were sent to the scene.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) said: “Crews from Bath fire station were called at 7.44am this morning (26th November) to support police at an ongoing incident in the Windsor Bridge Road area of Bath.”

The South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that a patient had been taken to the Royal United Hospital.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 7.36am on Wednesday 26 November to an incident in Bath.

“We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an operations officer to the scene.”

In a statement, Avon & Somerset Police said: “We were called to a concern for welfare incident at Windsor Bridge Road, Bath, at around 7.30am today (Wednesday 26 November).

“The incident was safely resolved at around 9.40am and the road is now open.”
