The Bath library will mark the milestone on Saturday 12th September at The All Saints Centre, with activities taking place from 2pm until 4.30pm.

The celebrations will begin with a history talk at 2pm, exploring the library’s journey since it was established 75 years ago.

At the time of its creation in 1951, the Bath Chronicle and Herald described the library as “a rather daring experiment”.

Three quarters of a century later, it remains a community resource serving residents in Weston and the surrounding area.

The library is now operated as an independent charity and is run by volunteers, relying on donations, fundraising and support from the community to continue providing its services.

As part of the anniversary event, the Mayor of Bath will give an address, while volunteers and community supporters who have contributed to the library will also be recognised.

From 3pm, the focus will turn to a family-friendly community celebration featuring activities, refreshments, a book sale and a raffle.

Organisers hope the anniversary will provide an opportunity both to reflect on the library’s development over the past 75 years and to bring together local residents who use and support it.
