Wessex Water is replacing water mains in Bradford on Avon that are prone to bursting to ensure improved water quality and a more reliable supply.
The work involves replacing the ageing main in Wine Street with new plastic pipes and will be carried out using both traditional open-cut and trenchless methods.
Due to the narrow nature of the road, Wine Street will be closed from Tuesday 3rd January 2017 for nine weeks.
During this time the road will be closed to all through traffic and parking will be restricted to residents only.
All residents on Wine Street will be issued with a parking permit and a diversion route will be clearly signposted.
As part of its duty of care, Wessex Water is investing £45,000 in condition surveys of the houses in the street and in monitoring vibrations due to the hard ground that is expected.
This work is a continuation of a scheme from Avoncliff and along Belcombe Road.
