Heavy rain is forecast to move across the region tonight, Monday 8th December, with the Met Office warning that while Bath is not expected to see the worst of the conditions, there is still a risk of localised flooding and travel disruption.

Outbreaks of rain are expected to become persistent and heavy overnight, continuing into Tuesday morning.
Through Tuesday, the rain may turn more intermittent, but occasional heavy bursts are still possible.
The Met Office has said that with the ground already saturated, this could lead to surface water on roads, some flooding in places and knock-on disruption to transport.
Across the wider warning area, rainfall totals of 20-40mm are likely, with higher totals of 60-80mm – and possibly 80-100mm – on exposed high ground such as Dartmoor and hills in Wales.
While the impact in Bath is likely to be less severe, spray and flooding could still make driving conditions difficult, and there is a chance of delays to bus and train services.
There is also the chance that some homes and businesses could experience power cuts or interruptions to other services as the heavy rain is accompanied by strengthening southerly winds.
Residents are being advised to:
- Check if their property is at risk of flooding and consider preparing a simple flood plan and emergency flood kit.
- Check road conditions and public transport before travelling and adjust plans if needed.
- Prepare for the possibility of power cuts by having torches, batteries, a mobile power pack and other essentials to hand.
- Keep up to date with the latest weather warnings and forecasts, as conditions and advice can change quickly.
