Bath & North East Somerset Council has launched a call for volunteers to welcome visitors to the new City of Bath World Heritage Centre, which is due to open later this year.

The centre, based on York Street, is on the lookout for friendly volunteers who are passionate about the World Heritage Site and have at least three hours to spare every fortnight.
Activities of the role will include:
- Welcoming visitors to the World Heritage Centre and helping them to explore the activities and displays.
- Inspiring people to go out and discover Bath using trails, guides and a new mobile app.
- Explaining why Bath is so special and what makes it a World Heritage Site.
Councillor Dine Romero, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Communities and Culture at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Volunteers at the World Heritage Centre will meet both local residents and visitors from around the world, and share their knowledge of the city they love.
“They will receive full training and become part of a friendly team, welcoming the first visitors to Bath’s brand-new heritage attraction when it opens later this year.”
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the new World Heritage Centre will give people a chance to find out what makes Bath special.
It is hoped the centre will inspire visitors to go out and explore the buildings, landscapes and history that make Bath a World Heritage Site: namely its Roman remains, hot springs, 18th-century architecture, 18th-century town planning, the landscape setting of the city, and the way in which Bath’s Georgian architecture reflects 18th-century social ambitions.
Once established, the World Heritage Centre will aim to attract 100,000 visitors per year.
