Volunteers across the Bath area are being invited to help plant 14,000 spring-flowering bulbs in Sydney Gardens in Bath on Sunday 22nd November.
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s parks team and the Friends of Sydney Gardens will be working together from 10am – 3pm to plant the bulbs, as part of a programme of landscape improvements to the park.
Anyone who can spare some time is invited to drop in and help for as long or as little as they like.
All ages are welcome (although children will need to be accompanied by an adult); and some tools will be available, but feel free to bring a trowel of planting tool if you have one.
There will be free tea and biscuits provided in the Gardeners’ Lodge throughout the day.
Councillor Martin Veal (Conservative, Bathavon North), the Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “We’re working very closely with the community on a series of improvements in Sydney Gardens.
“We’re nearing the end of a programme of landscaping works which have transformed the gardens – opening up the views and creating new areas for planting.”
Jonny East, Chair of the Friends of Sydney Gardens said: “Sydney Gardens is in desperate need of an injection of colour, and this will help provide a colourful display of spring flowers in 2016.
“Along with the landscaping work that’s already taken place, this initiative will improve this really important public space.”
