A village near Bath is showcasing what it has to offer at a special event next month.

St Mary’s Church in Bitton

The first ever Bitton Community Fair will be held on Saturday 18th April from 10.30am to 1.30pm at St Mary’s Church and the nearby church hall.

The fair is being organised in response to interest from local people who would like more opportunities to discover the many clubs, groups and activities that are taking place locally, as well as those who are interested in creating new ones.

Jim Heavens, one of the event organisers, said: “There are so many groups and organisations in the local area providing sports, recreational and other services, but often people just don’t know they are there.

“We hope that the community fair will give them a real opportunity to talk to people and help visitors get involved.”

Entry to the fair is free, and refreshments will be available at both venues.

So far, 20 local groups and organisations have already confirmed their attendance, with space still available for a few more.

The event will include a fun baking competition to find Bitton’s Best Young Baker. Anyone up to the age of 16 is invited to bring along homemade cakes, breads or traybakes to be judged.
