A community centre in Peasedown St John near Bath has launched an appeal for volunteers to help look after its outdoor space.
The Hive, located on Bath Road, opened earlier this year and has become a one-stop shop for the community.
The site is home to the village’s Post Office, Community Library and the new Swallow Café. It also benefits from a large amount of outdoor space, where help is now required.
Joy Fraser, Chair of the Hive Management Committee, said: “There is so much going on at the Hive. In the building, all under one roof, you’ll find the village Post Office, Community Library and Swallow Café.
“Outside there are also plenty of opportunities to be creative with the space we have. As well as mowing and strimming, ideas already put forward include vegetable patches, small allotments, flower beds, raised beds, attractive seating areas and tree planting.
“What we’re looking for is a group of volunteers – who have a passion for gardening – to come and get stuck in! The time requirement would be half a day a week or fortnight.”
Managers at The Hive made the most of the recent lockdown by decorating, renovating and installing new facilities in the building and the refurbishment is set to continue over the coming months.
“If you’d like to volunteer as a gardener, please get in touch”, added Joy.
