The group, wearing tutus, gathered in Alice Park to raise funds for the Tutu Foundation UK, a charity working to prevent and resolve conflict and help people build peaceful communities.
At 2.22pm on ‘Twosday’, participants danced to ‘Bring Me Hope Joanna’ by Eddy Grant.
A spokesperson for the event said: “The initiative brought smiles and happiness to all that participated and in this current time we felt that the message of Archbishop Desmond Tutu of tolerance, reconciliation and hope is needed more than ever, and we also wanted to honour his sense of fun!”
The event raised over £200 for the Tutu Foundation and there is hope the 22nd February will become an annual day for tutu wearing.
