Time is running out for green projects across Bath and the surrounding area to apply for a grant of up to £2,000 from Wessex Water.

The water and sewerage company’s Environment Fund is open for applications from community or charity groups until Monday, 19th May, funded through the Wessex Water Foundation.

Priority will be given to applications that aim to reduce water usage, improve biodiversity and/or improve environmental sustainability for local communities.

Supported by regional Community Foundations, the Environment Fund has supported 61 organisations with £100,000 of grants since its launch in 2023, including schools and parish councils.

Kirsty Scarlett, Wessex Water’s Group Head of Community Engagement, said: “We’re excited to be offering further support for local projects and groups and discover what they have planned to make a positive impact on the environment in their area.

“To help us decide which projects to support, we’ll be teaming up with Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset and Quartet Community Foundations for our funding panels later this summer. The panels include representatives from local wildlife trusts.”

Examples of beneficiaries include a voluntary water vole conservation group and a project to create community wildlife areas using sustainable water sources.
