Time is running out for donations to charity Designability’s Christmas fundraiser to be doubled.
The Bath-based organisation is running an appeal to give the gift of mobility to disabled children as part of their Wizzybug loan scheme.
Wizzybugs are fun and friendly powered wheelchairs, suitable for children from 14 months upwards until they reach a maximum weight of 20kg.
Designed and produced in Bath, Wizzybugs are available to families across the UK through a free loan scheme funded through donations from individuals, groups and organisations.
The charity wants to support more disabled children and adults like Bobby, Ollie and Harry to live with greater independence, freedom and fun in their everyday lives.
For 6-year-old Bobby and his Wizzybug, he has become the chatterbox he is today.
His mum said: “It’s the reason why Bobby is the way he is today. Without it, I don’t know where Bobby would be – physically, socially and emotionally.”
For Ollie, his Wizzybug enabled him to get the most out of fun, festive activities and could drive over to the lights, the reindeer and Santa all by himself!
Ollie’s mum added: “Without Wizzybug, Ollie was constrained to a pushchair and not able to explore on his own.”
For Harry, he was able to make the most of being out of hospital in time for Christmas last year.
His mum said: “Not only is he stronger than ever but we watched him drive his Wizzybug to take himself for his own Christmas photo and we watched on so proudly on how far he has come.”
So far, the appeal has raised a quarter of its £25,000 fundraising target and there are only days left to give.

For every £1 received before 27th December, an anonymous donor will double the amount.
