Residents across the area are being encouraged to find out more about an easy way to make their home more energy efficient, thanks to a grant through B&NES Council.
Homeowners with a joint household income of less than £30,000 a year, or those receiving income related benefits, could be eligible to apply for energy efficiency improvements to their property.
The home improvements could include solar panels, cavity wall, underfloor, or loft insulation.
The scheme is being promoted by Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Energy at Home service, which provides information and signposting on energy related home improvements and grant and loan schemes.
Councillor Sarah Warren, deputy leader and cabinet member for Climate Emergency and Sustainable Travel said: “This scheme can help B&NES residents improve the energy efficiency of their homes and reduce their energy bills.
“It’s especially important with the cost of energy rising, because many of the older properties in B&NES are difficult to keep warm.
“This will also help homeowners to play their part in supporting our ambition to reach net zero by 2030.”
Homeowners can fill out an online application form to see if they are eligible. The homes need to have an energy certificate rating of D, E, F or G on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Register.
The funding has been allocated from the government’s Green Homes Grant – Local Authority Delivery Part 2 scheme (GHG-LAD 2), to improve the energy performance of UK homes.
The West of England, which includes Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset, has been allocated £7.5m. City Energy is the delivery partner for the funding in the West of England.
