Supplies being restored after water main bursts in Corston near Bath

Water was being restored to homes in the Corston, Burnett, Newton St Loe and Pennyquick area this afternoon after a main burst at Ashton Hill last night, Monday 22nd January.

Bristol Water delivered bottled water to priority service customers this morning and said the team were working “incredibly hard” on site on the repair.

Due to the volume of water, the excavation was filling quicker than their equipment was able to pump the water out, so they had to bring in a bigger pump.

By late morning two tankers of water which had been sent to connect directly into the network meant that the crew had managed to bring water back to a number of properties in the area.

The main was being refilled to make sure the repair held.

Bristol Water has reported that the crew are recharging the system to bring all remaining properties back into water which may take a couple of hours.

It advises households: “You may experience air in the supply/discoloured water as the supply returns, this could last for a couple of days.

“If you run your first mains fed cold water tap for up to 30 minutes this will help to clear any discoloured water/air in your pipes.”
