Sixty tonnes of play sand, a crocodile and a new pirate boat are set to make summer fun for children visiting a popular Bath park, thanks to a recent investment by B&NES Council.
Bath & North East Somerset Council has invested in new play equipment at the Sandpits play area in Monksdale Road, as the original kit had worn out.
The new play equipment, which includes buckets and scales, was chosen following a public consultation.
Councillor Paul Crossley, cabinet member for Community Services, officially opened the new play area on Wednesday 19th June.
Councillor Crossley said: “This park is really popular with local people and it’s great that this new equipment has been installed ahead of the school summer holidays.
“The Sandpits Play Area provides a safe and friendly space for children and their parents to meet and play and I’m sure it will be well used.
“The council’s investment in this new equipment is part of our commitment to encouraging active and healthy lifestyles.”
The parks team is supporting local resident Lesley Hall in setting up a Friends Group for the park.
