The final stretch of the cycle and pedestrian route between Saltford and Wellsway school is being upgraded by Bath & North East Somerset Council, with work starting at the weekend.
The work once completed will provide safer off road route to school for young people and the local cycling community through this busy stretch of the road network
Work started on Saturday, 18th February, to resurface the shared use cycle and pedestrian path and involve upgrading existing dropped kerbs between Grange Road, Saltford and Ellsbridge Close, Keynsham.
Cllr Anthony Clarke (Conservative, Lansdown), Cabinet Member for Transport said, “This is an important scheme that will complete a route through a very busy section of road.
“In previous years improvements have been made to widen and resurface the cycle/pedestrian path between Ellsbridge Close and Wellsway School, Keynsham and the provision of a Toucan crossing near Norman Road, Saltford -so doing this is a key final piece of the jigsaw to support cyclists and pedestrians alike and part of our commitment to improve the network”.
To carry out this work it will be necessary to close one traffic lane of the A4 with temporary 2 way traffic signals. To minimise disruption the work will be carried out over five weekends and completed in short sections. The short sections will be reinstated for use on the Monday morning.
This work has been made possible following an award of a grant for cycle/pedestrian improvement works in the Saltford and Keynsham area from the Local Growth Fund.
