The event took place at Meryton Place Care Home on Bath Road, with the aim of sharing knowledge and strengthening support for people living with dementia and their families across the area.
The evening focused on improving understanding of dementia, a progressive condition that affects memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to carry out everyday activities.
Hamberley Care Homes, which runs Meryton Place, provided expert insight with head of dementia David Moore leading a session. He outlined Meryton Place’s own dementia strategy, highlighting best practice in person-centred care, meaningful activities and creating dementia-friendly environments.
Mr Moore also ran an interactive workshop, providing practical guidance and tools that attendees could take back into their own roles and organisations.
He said: “It’s events like this that really bring people together and allow important conversations to start happening. By sharing knowledge and experiences, we can better understand how to support people living with dementia in a way that respects their individuality, while also ensuring their friends and family feel informed, supported and included.
“Dementia doesn’t just affect one person; it impacts entire families and communities. Working together helps us create environments where people can live well for longer and feel valued and understood.”
Organisations represented during the evening included ReMindUK, Archie’s Project and Keynsham & Saltford Dementia Action Alliance.
