The Somer Valley Foodbank has thanked local residents for monetary donations it has received during the coronavirus pandemic, but is appealing for more to help support an increase in demand.
Despite not being able to donate food items at the moment, people have responded by giving money instead.
Somer Valley Foodbank Manager, Paul Woodward, said: “This money will be used to purchase food items so that our stock levels are not exhausted. We are actively trying to set up accounts with several cash and carry outlets.
“Likewise, people have been generous with their time and offered to help distribute food from our centres or help in the warehouse.
“If people would like to volunteer during the crisis they can email [email protected] so that their request can be registered and then they can be called upon when needed.
“The foodbank is a community project run for the people, by the people and could not continue without the support of the people in this area.”
