A secret Santa has been helping to spread joy during the season of goodwill to those in need across South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset.
The Sirona Foundation is the charitable arm of Sirona care & health which provides specialist health and social care and it invited Sirona staff to nominate those who would benefit from a gift this Christmas and Santa has been out delivering this week.
Foundation trustee Loraine Morgan-Brinkhurst MBE said: “Nominations which came through included items for people who are homeless, something special for those living alone with no family or children in poverty.
“We feel this initiative epitomises the essence of Sirona which believes the individual is at the centre of all that it does and being there to help those in need and to make a difference whenever we can.
“We asked staff to think about giving a gift which would make a difference and the requests have been as humbling as they have been moving.
“When Santa has said yes to a nomination I’ve been told staff have been skipping round the room with delight which is as wonderful as seeing the joy on the faces of those receiving the presents.”
Last year was the first time the Secret Santa initiative was run and staff comments included: “Thank you for coming up with the idea and for making such a difference” and “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Santa for his gifts this year –they have been very much appreciated both by the recipients, but also by the staff who have been able to give a little smile to their patients”.
