B&NES Council have announced that essential repairs to drainage pipes underneath North Parade are needed, which means the final completion date for the work has been moved by two weeks to 30th October.
Before work began, the road and drains were surveyed from above, including CCTV inspections of the drains, but once excavation took place it became apparent that more work is needed.
The clay drainage pipes are showing signs of hairline cracking which means they will not last their expected lifetime, and so need replacing now to prevent future issues.
This means additional work, but the contractor will continue to work seven days a week in order to complete the work and minimise disruption as soon as possible.
Up to date information on access during the different phases can be found on the Council web page at www.bathnes.gov.uk/northparade.
