The gas emergency and pipeline service says the final stage follows investigative work carried out last month and is needed to ensure gas continues to flow safely and reliably to local homes and businesses.
The work has been planned with Bath & North East Somerset Council, with engineers scheduled to complete it over the weekend to limit disruption.
As part of the operation, the junction of Eastbourne Avenue, Fairfield Road, Tyning Lane and Camden Road will be closed from 6.30pm on Friday 20th March. The road is expected to reopen by 5am on Monday 23rd March.
Simon Lee, who is managing the works for Wales & West Utilities, said: “We have planned these works during the weekend to minimise disruption to motorists.
“We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of this community.
“Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”
