People across Bath are being invited to share their experiences of dementia support as work begins on a new five-year strategy for the area.

Bath & North East Somerset Council is asking residents and carers for their views on how adult social care, health services, voluntary organisations and community groups can work more closely together to support people living with dementia.
The feedback will be used to help develop a new Dementia Strategy, aimed at making sure people can access the right information and support at the right time, while also recognising the needs of unpaid carers.
As part of the consultation, residents are being asked whether dementia has affected their lives and are invited to comment on their experiences of local health and social care support.
Councillor Alison Born, cabinet member for adult services at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Dementia affects many people across B&NES, not only those living with the condition, but also the families, friends and carers who support them, and the prevalence of dementia in B&NES is only projected to rise.
“I encourage anyone who has been impacted by dementia to take part in the survey – your insights and experiences are vital in ensuring the Dementia Strategy reflects the needs of the community and allows every person affected by dementia to feel supported, connected and able to live well.”
Among those backing the survey is Martyn Creeth, a member of the B&NES Dementia Strategy Steering Group and a carer for his wife.
He said: “When my wife was diagnosed with early-onset vascular dementia three years ago, one of our first thoughts was ‘where do we turn now?’ and ‘what support is available for us?’.
“With residents’ help, we are developing a clear strategy so people with dementia, of whatever type, and their carers can access structured help and treatment and are able to live well.
“Residents’ feedback will make sure the strategy works in practice and improves the lives of those with dementia and their carers.”
The survey is available online, with an easy read version also provided. Printed copies can be picked up in libraries, the Atrium at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, and at Bath and Writhlington leisure centres.
You can find the survey here.
The consultation closes on 30th April 2026.
