There were delays to train services between Bath and Bristol this afternoon, Sunday 29th June, after the line was blocked following an incident at Keynsham railway station.

The railings, with a temporary barrier in place

Witnesses at the scene said a black Mercedes-Benz car crashed through metal barriers in the car park, next to the railway line.

National Rail reported an obstruction on the line shortly after 2pm, with masonry from the wall having fallen close to the tracks.

Services between Cardiff Central / Bristol Parkway and Portsmouth Harbour, between Bristol Temple Meads and Castle Cary / Westbury / Weymouth / London Paddington, and between Plymouth / Taunton and London Paddington were all temporarily affected.

Bricks from the wall fell towards the railway tracks

GWR passengers were advised to use the D1 or D2 bus services for onward travel.

Disruption on the line concluded at around 4pm, with services getting back to normal.
