A number of public toilets across Bath have been left unusable after a spate of vandalism last week, which means portable toilets have been brought in while work to repair the damage is completed.

The toilets, which are around three years old and cost 20p to use, were introduced as part of a contract to improve public conveniences across the area.
It’s believed the mechanism which takes the money was damaged on Thursday, meaning the doors for the facilities are now unusable.
One of the main features of the new public toilets was their design, which ‘reduces the possibility of vandalism’.
It has been reported that the doors have now been locked ahead of being repaired, and portable toilets have been brought in as a temporary solution.
A local resident told the Bath Newseum: “All of the loos were vandalised on Thursday night. The containers for the 20ps were jemmied off so making the doors unusable. B&NES locked them all on Friday.”
Bath and North East Somerset Council released the following statement: “The toilets in the following parks are currently not in use after they were vandalised – Royal Victoria Park, Sydney Gardens, Henrietta Park, Parade Gardens, Monksdale Road (near the Sandpits play area) and the Shallows, Saltford.
“We are working with our partner Healthmatic, who is waiting for new parts for the doors to be delivered.
“Temporary toilets have been provided in Royal Victoria Park, Sydney Gardens, Henrietta Park and Parade Gardens until the doors can be mended, as all toilets in these parks have been affected.”
