Thanks to the efforts of local residents, a Post Office will reopen again in Saltford later this year, in the current library building as part of a new community venture to keep both facilities open.

On 17th May 2018, the Saltford Community Association received approval from Post Office Ltd to reopen Saltford Post Office in the current library building.

This follows months of discussion, though it is likely to take up to another 3 months for the group to work with the Post Office to implement all the required infrastructure, appoint the part time counter staff and carry out the necessary training.

According to Post Office Limited, a community post office combined with a community-run library is unique in the South West.

The library will continue to open for its current hours until the Saltford Community Association implement the transfer from B&NES Council, when it will change to being open Monday through to Saturday like the Post Office.

B&NES Council and Saltford Parish Council have been praised for being so supportive of the new project.

In the meantime, the Saltford Community Association is looking to raise funds in order to cover the costs of setting up, including purchase of stock such as greeting cards and stationery items. The group will be organising fundraising events and launching a “Friends of” appeal.

Over the next 3 months, the association will continue to develop and grow their unique community owned and run operation, which will serve the needs of the local community and anyone passing through Saltford.
