Plans to turn empty offices in George Street into holiday lets have been submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council for consideration.

The proposals relate to 5 Princes Buildings in George Street. The vacant offices are on the first, second and third floors of the Grade II listed building, above Adventure Café.

A statement supporting the application states: “Currently the empty section of the building has no positive impact on the neighbourhood or city. The building only houses a ground-floor restaurant.

“With the inclusion of the proposed holiday lets, the area would benefit. There would be further regular tourists which bring sustained economic benefits to the area.

“The ground-floor restaurant would also likely benefit due to its close proximity and added footfall past its entrance.”

Listed building consent is being sought alongside planning permission as there are proposed interior alterations.

The statement notes that although there is no parking at the premises, there are three bus stops within 165 metres, Charlotte Street Car Park is less than 500 metres away and the train station is a 15-minute walk.

The planning reference is 25/00140/FUL. The deadline for comments is 13th February.
