A concert pianist from Bath is set to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City after winning an international piano competition.
Bath-born Nurry Lee began studying the piano at the age of six with her mother.
Three years later, she won her first concerto competition at the age of nine, and attended the Royal College of Music.
Regarded as one of the most dynamic pianists of her generation, Nurry has gained international recognition.
She has played on BBC Radio 3 with her piano trio, Trio Rouge, and made her recent debut in Seoul, South Korea at a sold-out concert.
Nurry has performed across the UK, raising almost £4000 for the Motor Neuron Disease Association in a sold-out recital.
She continues with her goal to bring music to a wider audience, breaking down the boundaries within and surrounding classical and piano music.
Nurry said: “I’m so thrilled to have won this competition, and of course congratulations to everyone who took part.
“Playing in Carnegie Hall has been a lifelong dream of mine, it is one of the greatest concert halls in the world, and to be able to play there is a real privilege.
“It is really a pinnacle moment in any musician’s career, to be able to play there. Definitely a pinch me moment!
“I have been performing nationally and internationally since I finished studying last year, in 2022. It has been a rollercoaster, but every moment has been truly enjoyable.
“I owe a lot to so many people, to my piano professors and schools, who have helped me along the way, to my friends and colleagues and to the audiences for their continual support.
“My future plans are to keep on performing and to spread my mission of giving access to classical piano music to as many people as possible.
“I would play in Carnegie Hall one day, and a pub down the road the next day. For me, music itself has no boundaries.
“A debut concert in London is in the works and so is a new album. More details for this will soon be announced!”
