People living in Peasedown St John, Wellow and Shoscombe will have a number of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities this Harvest.
Anglican churches in all three parishes, which make up the St J’s Group, have put together an action-programme over the Harvest weekend.
Leader of all three parishes, Revd Matthew Street, said: “Harvest is the time of the year we can all come together to thank God for our food, and all the gifts the land around us provides from clothing to furniture.
“Whether you are two years old, or 102 years old, come along to one of our Harvest celebration events this year.”
Harvest is on Sunday 25th September, with the following events taking place:
- 10 am – Harvest Holy Communion – St James’ Church Foxcote
- 10.30 am – Morning Praise – St John’s Church, Peasedown St John
- 11.15 am – Harvest Praise – St Julian’s Church, Wellow
- 4.30 pm – Soul Food Harvest Festival – Peasedown Youth Centre
The Harvest theme across all the churches this year will be ‘Five loaves and two fish’ with a special focus on the biblical passages in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John that tell this famous event in Jesus’ life.
Matthew added: “This powerful message from the Bible reminds us that, for everything, we should have complete trust and faith in God.
“If we turn to Him sincerely, and in prayer, He will give us everything we need – especially in times when we feel like we have so little.
“Come along to one of our Harvest festivals this year, everyone and anyone will be given a warm welcome.”
On Sunday 18th September there will also be a special event at St James’ Church Foxcote at 10.30am to raise money for the church.
Organised by the ‘Friends of Foxcote Church’ the event will include Harvest hymns and poems.
