Next weekend, residents in Peasedown St John are being invited to take part in a community clean up, as part of efforts to keep the village and surrounding area tidy.
Last summer, local councillors Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan launched a new monthly clean up scheme where they invite villagers to join them on the first Saturday of the month to give a chosen street a tidy up.
Cllr Karen Walker (Independent) said: “Sarah and I both believe very strongly in community action and working with residents to help them make a difference in our village.
“Over the last few months, residents have contacted us about the excess amount of litter in and around the village and asked if we could do anything to help.”
The next clean up with be held on Saturday 5th May, 11.15am in Old England Way, Heritage Close, Adams Close, Saxon Way and Old Forge Way.
Cllr Sarah Bevan (Independent) added: “We’ve organised many community clean ups over the years, and it’s always good to see residents joining in.
“People often feel a strong sense of pride and community spirit when they give their time up to do something for the area they live in.”
Anyone who’d like to go along should bring gloves and any protective clothing they may want to wear.
Karen and Sarah will provide litter pickers and rubbish sacks.
The councillors publicise monthly, by delivering letters to homes, where each clean up takes place.
