The official event partner has been announced for this year’s Peasedown Party in the Park festival, Somer Valley FM, which was set up in 2008 to provide quality local radio to the people of the Somer Valley.
The station has has teamed up with festival organisers and will be broadcasting live from the event on the day.
Station Manager Dom Chambers, who has long supported the village festival and other events in Peasedown St John, said: “Party in the Park is a brilliant occasion that pulls the community of Peasedown St John together.
“It’s because of its popularity and size with over 2,500 attendees that we like being part of it so much. As Peasedown’s local radio station, we love being there and it encourages residents to tune in to listen to us too.”
Pete Helmore and Luke Barnes have been a part of the station for many years, and present a number of shows including the popular daily Drivetime programme.
They’ll be leading the radio broadcast on the day from 12 noon – 2 pm, which is being supported by Peasedown-based Bath Audi.
Pete, who also works for a commercial radio network, said: “Somer Valley FM has been at Party in the Park for as long as I can remember. As a local radio station we really enjoy being a part of events like this.”
As a founder member of the station, Pete has been a key player in taking Somer Valley FM from a Somervale School project in 2006 to becoming the area’s only dedicated broadcasting service.
Somer Valley FM’s Production & Systems Manager is Luke Barnes who started as a volunteer in late 2009 and took on an Apprenticeship at the station in January 2013. Luke is now full time staff and proud of everything the station has achieved.
He said: “At Somer Valley FM we pride ourselves on being the only licensed community broadcaster in North East Somerset & being able to attend events like Party in the Park is one of the perks of the job!
“We’ll be live from the centre of the event so tune in on the day at 97.5FM, DAB or online at www.SomerValleyFM.co.uk.
“This means that people of all ages who are unable to get there in person can still experience the fun of the festival.”
