B&NES Council is asking for feedback on what is important for families when visiting a library, when they might visit and whether libraries have helped their children’s reading abilities.
A survey has been launched, seeking to understand why families may not use libraries.
In March this year, the local authority ran a survey for adults to find out how people use the services, why they don’t use them and gather feedback to inform future improvements.
Now the council is seeking views specifically from parents and carers of young children who use the libraries to ensure they meet children’s needs as they develop.
Councillor Dine Romero, cabinet member for Children and Young People, and Communities, said: “We know how important libraries are in getting young children interested in reading from an early age and the positive impact this can have in later life.
“We want to ensure that our services best support children’s learning and enjoyment of books, so even if you haven’t used our libraries before and you have children aged up to 11, take part and tell us why. Please take a few minutes to complete our survey.”
The survey can be found here and runs until 10th October.
