Audiences from this year’s pantomime at the Theatre Royal Bath have raised more than £11,000 during twenty-seven charity collections.
The fundraising took place from 20th December to 4th January, after matinee and evening performances of Sleeping Beauty.
Neil McDermott, who stars as Prince Vincent, and Emma Norman, who stars as Carabosse, made announcements from the stage on behalf of the charities involved before each of the fundraising collections made by the theatre’s Front of House team for fourteen days during the panto run.
Actor Neil McDermott, well known on television for his long-running role in EastEnders, said: “We are very grateful to all the audience members who generously donated to the Theatre Royal’s Charity Collections when they came to watch the pantomime.
“We feel incredibly proud to pass the money raised onto five fantastic charities – Bath Gateway Out and About, Avon Wildlife Trust, The Lily Foundation, Bath Cats and Dogs Home and the Wonderfund – to help them continue their brilliant work in 2024.”
The Theatre Royal’s annual Charities Week took place across seven days and fourteen panto performances, from 20th to 27th December, raising a total of £6,786.25 which will be divided equally between four charities: Avon Wildlife Trust, Bath Gateway Out and About, Bath Cats and Dogs Home and The Lily Foundation.
In addition, collections took place from 28th December to 4th January, across thirteen panto performances, raising a total of £4,919.72 for The Egg’s Wonderfund.
Cast members Neil McDermott (Prince Vincent), Jon Monie (Lester the Jester), Nick Wilton (Nanny Nora), Sarah Jane Buckley (Fairy Snowfall), Emma Norman (Carabosse), David Pendlebury (The King) and Maisie Sellwood (Princess Rose) were joined by Cara Hopton and Evie Thomas from the Theatre Royal’s Front of House Team to celebrate the donations given by theatregoers.
